Finding a Better mp3 Player then the iPod, The SanDisk Sansa
The iPod is by far and away the most popular and intuitive mp3 player in the world. Apple has made an absolute fortune on the thing along with iTunes store. Many things have gone wrong though. Battery life has sucked lately, iPods are not to everyones taste and most people simply don’t have large libraries, but require a screen to navigate through songs. This leaves us with the iPod nano. What started with the iPod mini, Apple have done it again with the nano. Even with the nano, its features can be lacking for what some people may want, even though Apple has filled the market to just about everybody that wants to listen to music anywhere.
On my lumbering search for a simple, small and full-featured MP3 player, I found the SanDisk Sansa. I could argue all day to determine the superior player, but I wouldn’t go very far as they are both equally as good, but in very different ways.
In our superficial society the iPod is a clear winner, because of its smooth and shiny interface plus its looks and its stylish package it comes in, but it basically only plays music. Which is great for 90% of people, but I wanted something more. The Sansa has radio, video, expansion slots (ect ect ect).
With the cheap price with the Wii, Microsoft admitted that the low pricing of the Wii has been a major sweet spot. The Entry level price of the XBOX360 was a lot higher then their next price plan: $199 per console.
The company’s bigwigs recently confessed to Bloomberg that the Nintendo Wii may have been on to something when they launched its console at $250 US, which spurned sales and expanded its market beyond its regular consumer base.
It looks like Nintendo are going to win the console wars.
Frankly this doesn’t suprise me. Apple are not selling AppleTVs as Much as they would like to. Sure, its a novel idea, but the margin they are selling it by is extremely low, especially when compared to the iPod.
The deal with YouTube doesn’t make it any better, with the whole concept of the AppleTV is shot down.
Ok, this title is misleading.. But Nintendo have sold 5 times more Wiis in Japan then Sony has Sold PS3s. Considering the price and the fact that Nintendo are based in Japan this isn’t suprising, but it really gives Sony a Slap in the face seeing the game library on the PS3 is mostly crap and Sony are making a loss for every console they sell.
By the time the PS3s price will drop there will probably be a Wii 2.0 developed of the money Nintendo are making from their Wiis, DSs and Games.
SanDisk have shown us their awesome Solid State Drives. All 64 GB of them. Considering the size of the card and the fact that you can fit (almost) everybody’s music collection on there is a massive bonus. It is only a matter of time befor they become cheap eoguh for viable consumer use.. and watch out iPod.
Since Google have released Street view, people have started thinking.. Damn.. terrorists could use this information. The Media have been really pushing this as a “revelation” when it is quite clear that if a terrorist really needed the info they would either log on to Google or send out a scout.
Google also says that all the photographs have been taken on public grounds. So there you have it.. case closed.
Only a few more weeks until we get to see one great failure. The iPhone will start shipping on the 29th. Even though the iPhone is cool, with its (single) 2 Megapixel camera, its Mac OS X inside that comes in 4GB and 8GB for a hefty $500 and $700.
Only time will tell if it is likely to be a Wii type launch or a PS3 type launch.
SanDisk finally admitted that the new Sansa View is not up to scratch. People were fairly underwhelmed with the latest offering with SanDisk, with just about everything being the second best (as they always are).
Flash memory for videos…
Non-touch screen…
Lets just hope that they will make some revisions to the design and see what comes out of the works next.
The Wii is selling like hotcakes and so are the old school games that bring back nostalgia. They just added Zelda II which brings the amount of games to 100, and Nintendo have said there have been $4.7 million.
Thats a lotta $$
I don’t see Sony or Microsoft making this sort of money.
But then again Microsoft simply don’t have any classics to sell and Sony are too caught up with their own Power-Driven Ego.
